Vulture Funds

1) Whether the government has been given any legal or general advice on 'Vulture Funds' and their inter action with Third World debt.

The government has been given legal advice on vulture funds.

There have also been discussions on vulture funds with other interested parties, including Heavily Indebted Poor Countries, financial institutions, donor countries and NGOs.

2) When the government first knew about the same?

It is not possible to say exactly when the British government first became aware of the activities of vulture funds, although it is thought to be 2002, when Gordon Brown (as the then Chancellor of the Exchequer) made statements to Parliament deploring the actions of vulture funds.
