Agency Staff
How many workers were employed now (or at any given time) by DFID and who are working through a private employment agency?
You asked for the names of the agencies involved and an
indication of fluctuations from a previous period. You also asked for the total
number of people employed throughout the Department.
DFID employs agency staff to cover short-term business needs; these might include assistance in one-off or specialist assignments or to provide short-term cover for critical staff shortages due, for example, to long-term sickness or maternity leave.
DFID employed 63 temporary staff through 5 private employment agencies at 31 March 2008. The agencies are Manpower UK, Margaret Hodge Recruitment, Michael Page International, Progressive Recruitment and TFPL Ltd. At 31 March 2008 DFID employed 2,446 full-time equivalent staff.
You can find details of average annual DFID staff numbers
