DFID’s Freedom of Information Publication Scheme

Welcome to DFID's Freedom of Information Publication Scheme. The Publication Scheme is part of DFID's response to the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The Scheme aims to make available more information about DFID's activities and to promote understanding about our work.

Classes of Information:

The information is grouped into a number of categories or classes in the Publication Scheme. Some of the classes, for example, Projects and Programmes and Accountability and Performance Reporting, contain online resources you can search using DFID databases.

How to use the scheme:

DFID's Scheme is delivered electronically through our website. This is in line with the growth of UK public access to the WorldWideWeb; and the Government’s commitment to electronic delivery of services.

To ensure that you get the most out of the Scheme, you may find it useful to read Access and Other Policies. To find information under the scheme:

  • Select the Class (or category) of interest under the heading ‘Classes of Information’
  • Select from the list of information resources under each category – most of them are online.
  • If you can't find what you're looking for in one of the classes, you can ask us for it, in line with the External link Freedom of Information Act.

If you need help in using the Scheme online, or want a printed User's Guide, please ask our Public Enquiry Point.

We also produce a hard copy Users Guide to the Publication Scheme for those without Internet access. The Guide is available from DFID’s Public Enquiry Point and in person by calling in at DFID Headquarters in London or East Kilbride (see Contact Us).

Formats and Fees:

All the information in this Scheme can be downloaded free of charge. The scheme provides details of how to obtain copies of publications and material available in other formats such as CD-Roms, videos, DVDs, etc. We may charge printing and postage costs if you ask us to print and send particularly long documents
