Requesting Information

Most information covered by our FOI Publication Scheme is available online and can be downloaded free of charge.

If you can't find what you are looking for under the Publication Scheme or do not have an Internet access, you can make a request for information. You should apply in writing or e-mail and should provide as much detail as possible to identify the information sought.

Requests should be sent to:

The target for our response is 20 working days after the date of receipt, although Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations provide for the extension of this period in exceptional circumstances.

DFID may charge a fee to cover the costs of providing you the information (for example postage, copying, printing) but we will let you know the estimated fee beforehand and request payment before providing the information.

We may consult with relevant third parties to decide what information should be provided.

If we do not hold the information you asked for but believe that another public body does, we will give you the details on how you can contact them to request the information.
