DFID Management Board


The DFID Management Board is chaired by the Permanent Secretary. Its membership includes the three Directors-General and two non-Executive Directors. The non-Executive Directors provide an external perspective on DFID's work, while knowing and understanding DFID as an organisation.

Biographical information on the current members of the Management Board

The Management Board provides strategic direction to the management of DFID's operations, staff and financial systems, within the parameters of policies set by and in consultation with the Secretary of State.

The main focus of the Board's work is monitoring DFID's performance, and ensuring DFID's financial resources and staff are allocated and managed effectively. To do so, the Board meets every 8-12 weeks with an agenda typically contain 2-4 items.

DFID staff can feed in comments on the papers either through the author of the paper or through their Director-General. From time to time, the Board may hold an informal consultation with staff on a specific agenda item, prior to the meeting.
