Office Services and Security Department
Office Services and Security Department (OSSD) forms part
of Human Resource Division and is headed by Gary James in London. It is based in both London and East Kilbride. OSSD manages all essential
services in maintaining DFID’s offices in the UK and also provides advice and
assistance on related issues to offices overseas.
The services OSSD provide to staff include space planning,
messenger and portering, the supply of office furniture and equipment, meeting
room bookings, repairs and maintenance and reprographics for both locations and
management of catering and cleaning services. They are responsible for ensuring the
health and safety of all its employees and compliance with the all relevant
legislation.
OSSD is also responsible for the physical security of DFID
offices and staff in the UK and oversees security issues in our in-country
offices. It sets and maintains
policy for IT Security issues covering all UK and overseas offices, ensuring
that confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of information is maintained
and shared across all DFID and interconnecting government systems and non government
departments both for UK and abroad.
DFID’s
Environment Co-ordinator is located in Abercrombie House and manages DFID’s
environmental performance of the UK offices. DFID is committed to the environment by implementing a Government wide
initiative entitled “The Framework for Sustainable Development on the Government’s
Estate". In order to
meet the performance targets set out in the framework, we carefully
monitor the environmental impact of activities such as travel, waste and
procurement.
DFID has recently re-furbished
both UK offices. Both UK offices received a
BREEAM (Building Research
Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) awards and Abercrombie House
achieved an “excellent” rating.
