Political Participation Fund - Iraq
Eligible organisations |
The
Political Participation Fund (PPF) provides for technical and financial
assistance to a range of organisations that work to support the
development of legitimate and inclusive political institutions in Iraq,
which drive towards political and social cohesion. These include civil
society organisations, professional unions and associations, community
and faith-based organisations, groups supporting political parties, and
government and legislative bodies.
|
Funding criteria |
The
purpose of the PPF is to increase the opportunities for political
representation and participation by all Iraqis, particularly women, the
poor, marginalized and the vulnerable citizens. The PPF funds
organisations to ensure that the needs of vulnerable and marginalized
sections of society are addressed in future government policy-making, in
particular through supporting advocacy, the provision of public
information, the promotion of dialogue, and voter or civic education.
The value of the fund lies in highlighting areas where other donors are
not carrying out activities and where low-cost strategic inputs may have
a positive effect on the political process. The niche that the PPF has
found is that it is able to work directly with grass roots Iraqi
organisations throughout the country.
|
Funding available per activity
|
Individual projects should aim for a proposal between $10,000 and
$50,000. However, the PPF do consider proposals that are below and above
this amount.
|
Total available |
The total amount available for grants is
£2,700,000 of which £1,500,000 has already been committed, leaving a
remainder of approximately £1,200,000 to be disbursed through the
remaining lifetime of the project. |
How to apply |
The PPF office operates from Baghdad with
support from the British Council in Manchester. |
