Director, United Nations, Conflict and Humanitarian Division (UNCHD)

Palace St, London

Up to £120,000 per annum
 

Applications are invited from existing members of the Senior Civil Service (SCS) at Director level or Deputy Directors on promotion and to people who can satisfy the requirements laid out in the job description and the nationality criteria.

UNCHD manages DFID’s relations with the development agencies of the United Nations and the Commonwealth and with the international humanitarian agencies. It is responsible for DFID’s overall policy on conflict and on development in insecure environments; and for DFID’s response to disasters. The UNCHD Director also line manages the Head of the Stabilisation Unit, a cross-Government body tasked to provide civilian support and advice on stabilisation in the wake of conflict.

You will report to the Director General (International) and personally manage 3 Deputy Directors.

The selected candidate will be expected to take up post from early autumn 2008.
